I will outline some tips and several weight loss options that can help support you in achieving optimal weight.

PROGRAMS

Effective programs include regular reviews with your therapist to sustain motivation and provide ongoing education and support. Our options include:

1. Ultralite:

(For more info see www.ultralite.com.au ). Typical weight loss is 2.5-5kg the first week then 1-2 kg per week thereafter. This disciplined program involves 3 meals you prepare yourself, 4 whey-based drinks you have in-between meals (to reduce hunger and appetite, and assist fat burning via regulating insulin levels), and a quick urine check you do yourself each morning to assess how much fat you’re burning. You are weighed and measured weekly for the first 4-5 weeks to keep up motivation and compliance. It involves measuring and weighing all your food, but the rewards are immediate. The program comes with a comprehensive booklet and great recipes. Clients report reduced appetite and cravings, more energy and focus and fantastic results dropping fat.

The 5-week package in available online, face to face in Mosman (Sydney) or Melbourne &  includes:

  • Initial Naturopathic assessment 45-60 minutes
  • Program manual with recipes, tips and instructions
  • Initial Quadscan assessment. This is a TGA approved therapeutic test that measures health parameters including fat %, lean muscle, cellular health and fluid distribution. The information gained can assist you practitioner in personalizing your plan.
  • All the sachets you need for in between snacks (4 daily) for 5 weeks – 140 sachets
  • Ketostix to measure your level of fat burning
  • 4 short Follow up consults – 30 minutes where I monitor your progress & review your menu sheets. Each week I focus on an area that might influence results that may include pathology tests; navigating social occasions, getting your head in the right space (motivational interviewing); addressing stress; toxins and appropriate exercise recommendations

2. Shake-It:

Involves one meal replacement (usually a quality high protein low carbohydrate breakfast shake or meal bar) plus 2 meals consisting of lean protein (e.g. fish or chicken) and 3 handfuls of vegetables or salad, good essential oil, plus 2 snacks. Typical weight loss is around 2 kg the first week then 1 kg per week thereafter. It is sustainable long term and does not involve measuring and weighing of food.

The 3-week Package includes:

  • Initial Naturopathic assessment
  • Access to instructions, a weekly meal plan, recipes and tips
  • 1 tub of Metagenics ‘ShakeIt” – High protein, low carb chocolate or vanilla meal replacement
  • 1 box of ketobars (caramel, cherry coconut or vanilla nougat)
  • Ketostix to measure your level of fat burning
  • 2 short Follow up consults to monitor your progress

3. Go Low “Lose It” Program: (GLIP)

This involves a combination of the various programs we offer, tailored to the individual’s preferences, and considers dietary restrictions. Around 1kg a week is typical. It is the easiest to maintain long-term and is suitable for long term maintenance.

This program is tailored around your goals and lifestyle, and how quickly you wish to attain your goal weight;

Cost:  *$245 for the initial ‘Weight Loss Assessment” + cost of the recommended products

4.Fat Acceleration Program (HCG – Like).

Based on Dr Simeons work, this 6 week program results in a typical weight loss of 6-10 kg. It involves taking an enzyme/probiotic formula and natural drops to enhance fat burning and curb appetite in conjunction with a 3-phase eating plan. Phase 1 involves 2 days of unlimited eating followed by a 3 week 500 calorie a day regime, where most of the weight comes off.  Phase 3 lasts 3 weeks and is the maintenance phase with a low carb eating plan. This final phase effects resetting your body’s “set point’ at the new weight.

Cost: *$595.00 (Valued at $806)

Includes:

  • Initial Naturopathic assessment

Some options to try at home with or without supervision are:

Time restricted feeding or Intermittent fasting:

Many cultures include regular ‘fasting’ periods as part of their religion or culture. E.g., Muslims, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. Our earliest predecessors fasted between hunts, feasting after the beast was slain and fasting until the next kill. Our bodies are adapted to the ‘feast/famine’ concept, and don’t manage well with the constant ‘feast’ mode our society allows.

There is gathering evidence that allowing a period of rest between meals where we don’t eat for a period not only helps weight loss but also improves cognitive health, mood, our gut microbiome, cardiovascular and cognitive health.

Two relatively easy ways to do this is

  1. Time restricted eating: Start breakfast later and don’t eat anything after dinner. Water, herbal teas, black tea or coffee are allowed, but not even a celery stick or bit of milk in your tea is ‘allowed’. E.g., having brunch at 11 or 11.30am, then finishing dinner by 7 or 7.30pm at night, giving an eight-hour eating window.
  2. Eating 500 calories on two non-consecutive days for women; 600 calories for men

Maintenance program.

Getting the weight off is one thing but adopting a long term healthy eating lifestyle is essential. We like to monitor your weight regularly (ideally monthly) to ensure your long-term health is supported. You may be interested in dealing with other preventative aspects of your health via various tests such as genetic profiling or recheck your biobody composition analyses.
