Holistic Health is an integrative wellness clinic founded by Doreen Schwegler, Medical Scientist and Naturopath, who has over 30 years of health, wellness and medical experience. Doreen has been passionate about assisting her patients optimize their health and wellbeing for over 30 years. After completing her Medical Science degree in 1982, and working in various Melbourne laboratories, she travelled to the UK to gain further medical experience.

I was personally recommended to you in 2016 after suffering from two miscarriages and being told by my GP that it was an unfortunate event. No further testing was recommended by my GP, however I knew that there was more to my miscarriages. It wasn’t until you provided me with a list of further testing that I discovered I had a MTHFR gene mutation. Your ability to manage this with vitamins and dietary changes definitely aided in the healthy conception and development of Chloe. However, I also praise your ability to ensure a healthy pregnancy throughout all trimesters along with the preparation for labour in the final trimester. I don’t think I would’ve achieved the successful labour outcomes for both pregnancies if it wasn’t for your support. We have been blessed with two healthy, beautiful and intelligent children, which I highly believe is due to maintaining a healthy body from preconception to post-birth.

I got Covid in the March of 2020, right at the beginning. I spent most of the two years after that suffering from Long Covid. I’ve been unable to work or study that entire time. I could barely think, I couldn’t exercise, if I went and did anything, I went to the movies with a couple of friends after the lockdowns ended and I spent the next four days unable to do even the most basic things.
I’ve tried to get help from a lot of people. From several GPs, from specialist clinics like the Royal Melbourne Covid clinic. Every single time I was met with scepticism or a shrug and a “we can’t help you.” One of the GPs I’ve seen, after months of trying to get help from him, forgot why I had come to see him and tried to send me off for tests for several other non-covid related viruses, and one of the others had me do a respiratory test and declared that, because that was fine, it couldn’t be Long Covid, and that I was suffering from depression.
My first appointment with Doreen lasted for an hour and a half. She listened to me, and engaged with my concerns, and in the couple of months since, has actually helped me with my issues. Thanks to her treatment and advice, my condition has improved a great deal, I feel almost normal now. I’m exercising again, I can think clearly…I still have a way to go to get back to normal, but I’m very hopeful that in another month or two I should be able to find a job again, and get back to my studies next year.
